How are our textile prints environmentally friendly?
Ordering digitally printed textiles from Print & Press, London, is one of the greenest and least wasteful ways to create your print designs.
- We print with eco friendly water based pigment inks. All of our inks are non toxic, and once printed they bind with the fabric fibres so your designs become water resistant.
- Pigment inks don't need to be steamed or washed to fix them, and so we use much less water and electricity than other printing techniques.
- Our inks bind directly with the fabrics, so we don't have to use any pre-treatment or chemical coatings, and you still get lovely bright colours. This also means we can print on a wide variety of different fabrics, although all of the ones we stock are 100% natural. You can print on our stocked fabrics, or send us an email if you'd like to find out about how we can print your designs on fabric you provide.
- Unlike traditional screen printing, digital prints use exactly the right amount of ink to create your design. Again this means there is very little wastage, and no nasty dyes and chemicals going down the drain, making digital printing the most sustainable way to print fabric.
How else is Print & Press, London eco friendly?
We are currently working with a number of small businesses and charities to recycle our waste fabric. Every time we digitally print, we run tests to make sure the quality is perfect, and the fabric is properly aligned. This means that a small amount of fabric is created as 'waste'. We feel awful throwing this fabric away, and are working with companies and individuals who can overdye and recycle waste fabric, to make our fabric printing process even more environmentally friendly.
